Mantiply Headed for Arthroscopic Knee Surgery, Return TBD

Toronto's left-handed reliever needs a scope on his injured left knee after what was initially called inflammation proved more serious.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider confirmed Thursday that reliever Joe Mantiply will have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. Mantiply had been on the injured list for roughly two weeks with what was first described as inflammation. No return timeline was given, but the team does not consider it a season-ending procedure. Before the injury, Mantiply had been effective, posting a 2.04 ERA over 17.2 innings pitched.
