The Tigers lost Friday's series opener to the White Sox 4-3 in extra innings despite a quality start from Troy Melton and a strong eighth inning from Will Vest. Detroit will send Framber Valdez to the mound Saturday afternoon in an attempt to even the series. The 32-year-old lefty was sharp in his most recent outing, allowing just one run over six innings. The two AL Central rivals continue their weekend matchup at Rate Park.
