Mets Option Tobias Myers to Minors for Bullpen Roster Move
New York sent the versatile reliever down with an option remaining, citing a pitching crunch — but manager Mendoza says Myers will return soon.
The Mets optioned right-hander Tobias Myers to the minors before Saturday's game against the Marlins to add a fresh bullpen arm. Manager Carlos Mendoza called it a difficult decision given Myers' value as an opener, multi-inning reliever, and high-leverage option. Myers had struggled recently, allowing runs in five of his last seven appearances, pushing his ERA to 4.05. Mendoza indicated the move is temporary and Myers is expected back with the big-league club shortly.
